Interested in Playing Volleyball at WOODINVILLE HIGH SCHOOL?

If you are a current 8th grader from Leota or Timbercrest Middle School who will feed into WHS for the 2019-2020 school year and you are thinking about trying out for the Woodinville HS volleyball program in August 2019, check out these great volleyball events coming in 2019 to help you become familiar with our program!

OPEN GYMS at Woodinville HS, Start April 2019

Open gyms start in April 2019 and will occur every Tuesday. These sessions are a great way to get some touches on the ball and are for any and all WHS students or current 8th graders who will be attending WHS for the 2019-2020 school year. Per WIAA rules, there will be NO COACHING at these open gyms and the sessions are COMPLETELY OPTIONAL. Coaches will simply be there to oversee net set-up/take-down and supervise students who choose to attend.

WHS head volleyball coach, Andrea Roelen, will host a volleyball informational meeting on Tuesday, May 21st, 2019 from 6:30 to 8:30pm at Woodinville High School in Room 335. This meeting is for all PARENTS (and players are welcome too) of current 8th – 11th grade girls who will be attending WHS for the 2019-2020 school year. At this gathering, you will have an opportunity to meet Andrea and the WHS coaching staff, hear about her coaching philosophy, program guidelines, and ask her questions about your daughter’s possible participation in August tryouts and/or the WHS volleyball program.

Spring/summer volleyball practices begin in late May, following the spring sports State Championship matches in accordance with WIAA training rules, and run through July 31st. These practices are open to all current 9th to 11th grade prospective WHS volleyball players and any 8th grade Leota and Timbercrest Middle School girls who will feed into WHS for the 2019-2020 school year. Attendance is optional but HIGHLY ENCOURAGED for players who are hoping to try-out for the 2019 season. These training sessions will be an opportunity to work with the coaches and receive valuable instruction/feedback before tryouts in August.

All players who want to participate in these spring and summer volleyball practices MUST have their sports registration information completed on the Final Forms website and HAVE A COMPLETED AND VALID PHYSICAL on file with WHS BEFORE they can practice. More registration information coming soon!!

Final Forms registration opens for volleyball on May 3rd, 2019. All paperwork must be turned in by May 20th, 2019. Contact Renae Hector in the WHS Athletic department if you have eligibility questions, 425-408-7491, or email her at

**NOTE: All volleyball event dates are posted on our program website ( and the WHS school website (

WHS Volleyball TRYOUTS will be August 26-28, 2019!

Please do not schedule any summer plans during or after these August dates if your daughter plans on trying out for the WHS volleyball team. TRYOUTS ARE MANDATORY for participation in the program. Family vacation, summer jobs, dentist appointments, etc. during these times are NOT VALID EXCUSES for missing tryouts*, especially since you and your daughter are being informed far in advance of this event. Each and every athlete deserves the opportunity to tryout at the same time and be fairly and equally evaluated by a coaching staff to determine who has earned the privilege to play WHS Falcon volleyball. WHS tryouts are a competitive process and no one is guaranteed a spot in the program until they have completed tryouts and been assigned to a team.

*Note: Illness, injury, mandatory summer school, or transfers to WHS will be evaluated on a case–by-case basis.

If you and/or your parent would like to receive WHS volleyball announcements, updates, or reminders regarding these future events, please send an email to Head Coach Andrea Roelen, at with the following information:

  • Player name and parent(s) names
  • ANY AND ALL email addresses to which you want updates sent

Thank you for your interest in WHS Volleyball.
